Tourist visa to Turkey

Tourist visa is the main document that foreigners need to visit Turkey for vacation and familiarization with the country.

There are two options for issuing a tourist visa:

• Electronic Visa (e-Visa)

An electronic tourist visa for Turkey can be applied for online a few days before traveling. The process takes up to 5 working days and does not require personal presence. It is enough to fill in the application form and upload the necessary documents on a special website of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Electronic visa is issued for up to 90 days and allows you to stay in the country for tourist purposes.

• Consular Visa (Sticker Visa)

To obtain a classic consular visa you need to personally apply to the Turkish Embassy and submit a package of documents (application form, photo, passport copy, hotel/tour booking, etc.).

Consideration takes 1 to 2 weeks. Consular tourist visa can be single-entry or multiple-entry, is issued for a maximum of 90 days and is issued in the form of a sticker, which is pasted in the passport.

If you are a citizen of one of these countries, you will have to apply for a Sticker Visa at a Turkish Embassy or Consulate.

The process will take longer and will require a personal visit, filling out an application form and preparing a package of supporting documents. In addition, the consular fee for a paper visa is significantly higher.

The consular interview is the final stage of obtaining a tourist visa. Its purpose is to verify the authenticity of the information provided and the sincerity of your intentions to visit Turkey.

At the interview, the consular officer will ask a number of questions to get the fullest possible idea of the purpose of the trip, plans for the time of stay in Turkey, as well as to make sure that all the necessary documents are available.

Questions may include:

• The purpose and duration of the trip;
• The route of travel in Turkey;
• Places to stay;
• Approximate budget;
• Sources of funding;
• Marital status and occupation in the home country.

Answers should be sincere, convincing and consistent with the information in the documents. If necessary, you should have supporting papers with you. This will help avoid nagging and additional questions.

Clear and truthful answers at the interview when applying for a tourist visa significantly increase the chances of a positive decision.

You can apply for a tourist visa to Turkey up to 3 months before your trip. The processing takes up to 15 working days, so it is optimal to apply 30 days before departure, otherwise the application may be refused.

As soon as the visa is ready, the embassy will notify you by e-mail or phone number specified in the application form. The cost of the consular fee depends on various factors: the validity of the visa, the number of authorized entries, the urgency of registration. But you can count on adequate prices.
