In all likelihood, your introduction to Tajikistan will start with Dushanbe. This city is the main gateway to the country. Dushanbe is the capital of Tajikistan and the largest city in the country, where all major events take place.

For a cultural vacation in Dushanbe, you can visit the National Museum of Tajikistan and the Museum of Ethnography, where there are many interesting exhibits. The city also has several large squares such as Putovsky, Sadriddin Aini and the 800th anniversary of Moscow.

Among the unique places we can highlight the Dushanbe Flagpole, the highest flagpole in the world, 165 meters high. It is located on the square near the Palace of Nations. One of the important sights of the capital is the monument to Ismail Samani - a great emir, the founder of one of the ancient states, the center of which was Dushanbe. The monument was opened in 1999 and impresses with its grandeur.

Mountains and blue skies

The relief of Tajikistan is represented by a variety of mountains, occupying more than 90% of the country's total territory. The eastern part of Tajikistan mainly consists of mountain systems, including the Alai Range, which is part of the Tien Shan mountain system. In the north is the picturesque and fertile Fergana Valley, which occupies a small part of the country.

However, most of the territory of Tajikistan is occupied by the Pamirs, a mountain system to which the highest point of the country, Ismail Samani Peak, belongs. Its height is 7495 meters. In addition, there are many beautiful mountain lakes located throughout the territory of Tajikistan, creating a unique and picturesque landscape.

Blue Lake in the mountains

Lake Iskanderkul is the main natural attraction of Tajikistan and is known for its unique history. This place attracts tourists not only by its beautiful turquoise water and impressive mountain scenery, but also by the legends associated with it. Near Iskanderkul there is a warm lake Zamin-Mulla, where snakes live, as well as a 43-meter waterfall "Fanskaya Niagara" and a limestone rock.

Lake Karakul, which means "Black Lake", is a beautiful bright blue body of water, the surface of which reflects the snow-capped peaks of the Pamirs. This natural wonder is located high in the mountains, at an altitude of about 4 km, and is characterized by icy and crystal clear water. The geographical complex of the lake creates a unique Martian atmosphere: ascetic landscape, endless bright sky and a secluded village with white clay houses. People don't swim or fish here, and the snowy wind blows from the mountain peaks. It is an ideal place for ecological and ascetic tourism.

Garmchashma hot springs are located in the Gorno-Badakhshan region of Tajikistan. In the mountain sanatorium located at the place where the mineral springs come out, you can relax, restore your health and observe an interesting natural phenomenon. Here travertine slides are formed with natural bath-bowls made of limestone and calcium deposits, where hot water rich in iron, magnesium, fluorine and hydrogen sulfide is collected. The description of the springs testifies to their healing effects on the cardiovascular and nervous systems, skin and musculoskeletal apparatus. Visit this amazing place to immerse yourself in turquoise water, taste the local narzan and enjoy the mountain air.
