Invitations to enter the Russian Federation

Visa invitation of students is a document that confirms the purpose of coming to Russia. There are three types of these documents that are acceptable for obtaining a student visa:

Invitation from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. The Russian university is obliged to provide the student with this invitation, which must then be submitted to the embassy in paper or electronic form.

Invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The Russian university must request an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, after which the invitation will be sent to the Russian Embassy in your country. The university will then issue students with a six-digit number that they need to provide to the embassy.

A copy of the direct invitation letter from the Russian university. This invitation is valid only for short-term studies and must be stamped and signed by the university rector or the head of the international department, and printed on the official letterhead of the Russian university.
