Electronic visa (e-Visa) to Thailand now available for citizens of 39 countries
Thai authorities have officially confirmed the expansion of the electronic visa (e-Visa) system, which was previously only available to 23 countries.
Now, citizens of 39 countries are eligible for the e-Visa, and the system is available to 59 Thai diplomatic missions worldwide, including consulates in cities in the Americas, Australia and Oceania, as well as Europe and several Asian countries.
Obtaining a visa on arrival remains relevant for nationals of visa countries that are not on the updated e-Visa list.
Thailand's current visa regulations, which provide for visa-free entry for foreign nationals of many countries, including Germany and other European Union states, also remain relevant. In certain cases, travelers from countries with which a visa-free agreement is in effect may apply for an e-Visa, for example, if they plan to travel for a longer period of time as opposed to a specific nationality.
Also for citizens of visa-free countries, the electronic travel authorization (ETA) will be available as early as December 1, 2024. Who needs to issue ETA permits or e-Visa can be specified in advance.
