Citizens of 31 countries will soon have to familiarize themselves with the updated requirements for entering Namibia.

According to the latest information from Namibia's Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, visitors from Germany and a number of other countries will now have to apply for a visa electronically in advance, pay the required fee and receive the visa upon arrival.

This decision was taken in response to the lack of reciprocity from some countries despite Namibia's friendly policy. An official statement said, "Namibia has maintained good relations over the years and has been open to citizens of many countries. However, reciprocity from some of these states has remained insufficient."

Citizens of the following countries will be affected by the changes:
Armenia
Austria
Azerbaijan
Belarus
Belgium
Canada
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Great Britain
Iceland
Ireland
Italy
Japan
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Moldova
Netherlands
Norway
Portugal
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Tajikistan
Turkmenistan
Ukraine
USA
Uzbekistan

The exact date of introduction of the new rules has not yet been announced, but representatives of Namibia promise to notify about it as soon as possible. Once the innovations come into effect, travelers from the listed countries will be issued visas on arrival, subject to prior online application and payment of the fee.

The South African Development Community (SADC) Business Council Tourism Alliance has expressed concern over the new visa policy, highlighting the potential damage to tourism and economic progress in the country. The upcoming changes could affect the flow of tourists from Germany and other affected countries, as they will now require more time and effort to make travel arrangements to Namibia.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration stressed that the aim of the new measures is not to create obstacles for travelers, but to ensure equality and fairness in international relations. Further details and a start date for the new visa rules are expected to be released soon.
