To do so, a visa application must be made directly to a Ghanaian diplomatic mission abroad in advance of the planned date of entry. The applicant must make an appointment for an interview at the nearest Ghanaian diplomatic mission, whether consulate or embassy, and print and complete the visa application form in advance. The validity period is 48 hours.

If a traveler needs to stay in Ghana for more than 48 hours, they will need another type of visa that matches their purpose of stay in the country.

If the traveler is only connecting to another flight and not leaving the airport, a Ghana transit visa is not required.
