Vietnam is an amazing country with picturesque nature, rich history and culture. Most foreign nationals need to apply to a Vietnamese consulate to obtain the appropriate visas and permits to enter, live and work in Vietnam. If a citizen wants to spend more time than allowed by a standard tourist visa or e-visa, they need to apply for a visa extension upon arrival in Vietnam. However, citizens of a small number of countries are exempt from visa requirements and can enter the country without a visa for short stays by simply presenting their passport at border control. Also, air passengers transiting Vietnam do not require a visa, provided they stay in the transit area of the airport and do not stay for more than 24 hours.

Thus, to avoid problems at border crossing, all tourists going on a fascinating trip to this picturesque Vietnamese country are strongly advised to prepare all the required documents well in advance and thoroughly.

Some countries may enter Vietnam without a visa and stay for a specified number of days. Citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Italian Republic, the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Belarus may enter Vietnam for a stay of 15 days, regardless of their passport type and purpose of entry, provided that all conditions stipulated by Vietnamese law are met. If you wish to stay in Vietnam for longer than this period, you can apply for a visa extension upon arrival in Vietnam. In addition, the entry visa waiver policy for nationals of the above-mentioned countries will be implemented for a period of 3 years from March 15, 2022 to the end of March 14, 2025 and an extension will be considered in accordance with Vietnamese law.
