Do you need an e-visa for Thailand?
In 2018, Thai authorities introduced a new visa program that provides applicants with the ability to obtain e-visas exclusively online, thus eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate in person to apply or wait in line to receive a visa on arrival.
Today, more than 20 nationalities from around the world are required to have an approved eVisa to enter Thailand. The Thai eVisa online visa grants a single right of entry for tourist purposes for a period of up to 30 days. Once approved, the eVisa remains valid for 30 days from the date of entry into Thailand.
To apply for a Thai e-visa, you need to fill out a simple online form by providing your personal, passport and travel details. The following images are required to upload to submit the application:
The validity of the applicant's passport must be at least 30 days from the expected date of arrival in Thailand, and it must also have at least one blank page.
Once the e-visa for Thailand is approved, it will be emailed to the applicant. Visitors are advised to print a hard copy of this visa as it may be required upon arrival.
To be sure, applicants are advised to submit their e-visa application at least 5 working days prior to their scheduled arrival date to allow sufficient time for processing.
Those citizens who plan to spend more time in Thailand or visit the country for other purposes, such as study or work, are required to obtain the appropriate visa through the embassy.
