The Republic of Southern Sudan is just beginning to develop its visa policy. Citizens of five States are allowed visa-free entry into the country. Citizens of most States require a visa to visit Southern Sudan.
Citizens wishing to visit Southern Sudan must obtain an electronic visa prior to entry, unless they are either descendants of Southern Sudanese residents or nationals of one of the countries eligible for visa-free entry or a visa on arrival in Southern Sudan.

A visa on arrival is also issued to holders of a copy of a United Nations-issued identity card authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Southern Sudan. Holders of diplomatic, official, service and special passports issued to citizens of any country may also obtain a visa on arrival.
All other citizens must obtain an electronic visa before traveling for tourism or business.
