Sri Lanka simplifies visa process for foreign tourists
Sri Lanka, has announced the imminent introduction of visa-free entry for citizens of Germany and 34 other countries. The measure will be effective from October 1, 2024 and will be valid for six months. Under the new program, tourists will be able to obtain a tourist visa for up to 30 days without having to pay any fees, which will greatly simplify the process of entering the country.
An advisor to Sri Lanka's Ministry of Tourism said that the new initiative is aimed at attracting more travelers and increasing the country's appeal as a tourist destination. The decision is expected to increase tourist traffic and support Sri Lanka's economy. The simplification of visa procedures will open new horizons for those seeking to enjoy the country's nature, culture and the warm hospitality of Sri Lankans.
In implementing this strategy, an important objective is to create a visa-free regime in Sri Lanka similar to what already exists in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. This will not only simplify the entry process for foreign tourists but will also enhance the country's competitiveness in the global tourism market.
