The decision is expected to increase tourist traffic and support Sri Lanka's economy. The simplification of visa procedures will open new horizons for those seeking to enjoy the country's nature, culture and the warm hospitality of Sri Lankans.

In implementing this strategy, an important objective is to create a visa-free regime in Sri Lanka similar to what already exists in Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
