South Korea has announced the launch of an innovative e-Arrival Card system that will replace paper arrival forms. From February 24, 2025, travelers will be able to use an electronic card format that will greatly simplify and speed up the immigration process, minimizing delays at the border.

The e-Arrival Card system is designed to make the process of entering South Korea more efficient and comfortable for both travelers and immigration authorities.

The system will be implemented in phases: from February 24 to December 2025, travelers will be able to choose between a paper card and an e-card. However, from January 2026, only the electronic application will be accepted for entry into the country.

The e-card will be mandatory for all foreign nationals except airline crew members, holders of a valid K-ETA (Korean Electronic Travel Authorization) and registered residents of South Korea with permanent resident or resident cards. For minors under the age of 14, a family member or guardian must complete and submit the application.

The e-Arrival Card must be filled out online at the official website and at least 3 days prior to arrival in the country. Passport, flight or ship information, residential address and contact details including email address will be required. The card will be valid for 72 hours after issuance. Upon successful submission, travelers will receive a confirmation email and can download the e-card in PDF format to present upon entry into the country.
