The Peruvian government has announced its plans to introduce the digital nomad visa. This innovation will allow employees working remotely to stay in the country for 365 days with the possibility of extension. Currently, European Union citizens can visit Peru on a 183-day tourist visa. The goal of the new program is to bring international experts to Peru with the hope that they will stimulate the country's economy through tourism and service provision, while supporting cultural exchange. The main goal is that some visitors will decide to stay in the country and develop their business here, transitioning to investor status.

The number of digital nomads in Peru is steadily increasing, especially in the capital Lima, where many international companies are concentrated. Digital nomads working for European companies are also attracted by the low cost of living in the country.
