New Zealand makes it easier to obtain a transit visa
As of August 12, 2024, the New Zealand transit visa application process has been significantly simplified. The country's immigration service has transferred the application process to a fully online format, which significantly reduces waiting time and simplifies the procedure for applicants.
However, this innovation did not affect all categories of applicants. Chinese citizens applying for a group transit visa are still forced to submit documents in the traditional paper form through the visa center.
Recall that the transit visa to New Zealand allows you to stay in the transit zone of the airport no more than 24 hours. The visa applies to spouse and children under 19 years of age, but minors over 19 years of age must apply independently.
Citizens of the following countries may transit New Zealand without a visa: Bahamas, Bermuda, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Venezuela.
Also, changes to the visa regime for Fiji citizens will come into effect from September 4, 2024. They will have access to the electronic processing of NZeTA Transit instead of the traditional transit visa.
