Liberia introduces e-Visa on Arrival: new options for travelers

18.03.2025
Maryland, Liberia

Liberia has taken a significant step toward making entry into the country easier by introducing the e-Visa on Arrival effective March 11, 2025. This innovation meets international standards of security and convenience, making travel to the state more accessible to foreign nationals.

Travelers planning a visit to Liberia for tourism, business or transit purposes can now easily apply for an e-Visa on Arrival. The visa application must be submitted 7 days prior to departure. The visa is valid for one entry only and can be issued for up to 30 days and the validity period will be determined by the airport official (30 or 90 days). Liberia Immigration reserves the right to reject visa applications. .

Currently, e-Visa on Arrival is only available upon arrival at Roberts International Airport (ROB) in Monrovia. Once your application has been successfully processed, it is recommended that you save your visa confirmation in hard copy or on your mobile device. Upon arrival at the airport, you will need to present this confirmation, undergo biometric data collection and receive a visa sticker in your passport.

It is important to note that not all foreign nationals can take advantage of the new service. Citizens of ECOWAS countries are exempted from this measure thanks to agreements on free movement in the region. In addition, residents of countries where Liberian embassies are located cannot receive an e-visa on arrival. This includes 23 countries such as China, France, Germany, Belgium, China, France, the United States and others. They need to apply for a visa directly at the embassy.

The launch of the e-Visa on Arrival system is an important step in Liberia's economic strategy, promoting trade, tourism and international cooperation. Simplifying the entry process for business and leisure travelers opens new perspectives for the country and its economy.
