Japan accelerates the launch of JESTA: fast and safe travel to the country

The Japanese government has announced its intention to accelerate the launch of the new electronic travel authorization system, JESTA, which was originally planned for implementation by 2030. This decision was made in response to the growing flow of tourists to the country.
Themain goal of the JESTA system is to simplify immigration procedures and improve border security. With its help, the authorities intend to reduce waiting time in queues upon arrival and manage tourist flows more efficiently.
With the introduction of JESTA, travelers from 71 countries, including Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, who can visit Japan without a visa for up to 90 days, will be required to fill out an online application for an entry permit before departure. This innovation will allow Japanese authorities to verify travelers' information in advance and avoid delays at the border.
During the application process, travelers will be required to provide personal data and itinerary details. Information on additional requirements, such as application fees and required supporting documents, is expected to be made public once the system is officially launched.
