Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) was launched in the UK on November 27th
The UK has started accepting applications for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for visa-free visitors from November 27, 2024 . This new border security measure will affect travelers from 48 non-European countries, who can already apply for an ETA in the UK.
However, it is worth noting that for Colombia, obtaining an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is no longer available. The UK government has decided to reinstate the visa regime for Colombian nationals from December 24, 2024, meaning that Colombians will once again have to apply for a visa to travel to the country.
ETA electronic authorization will be required for foreign nationals planning to visit the UK for a variety of purposes, including tourism, short visits to relatives or friends, business travel and business trips, as well as for transit passengers.
From January 8, 2025, entry clearance will become mandatory for citizens of 48 countries. And starting April 2, 2025, all travelers eligible for visa-free entry, including those from Germany, will be required to obtain an entry clearance (ETA) before traveling. These changes are aimed at strengthening border security controls and simplifying the entry process for foreign nationals.
Travelers are advised to familiarize themselves with the new regulations in advance and prepare the necessary documents to successfully obtain an ETA.
