Foreign nationals will be able to visit the Channel Islands without an electronic authorization (ETA) until the end of 2025
The Guernsey Channel Islands Government has approved the extension of entry to the islands of Jersey and Guernsey without an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). It is expected that travelers wishing to travel directly to the Channel Islands from abroad will not have to apply for an ETA until the end of 2025.
Although not formally part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the Channel Islands have a close relationship with it, especially in terms of immigration and border control. Thus, the UK's implementation of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system has direct implications for them.
As a reminder, the UK has already approved a timetable for the introduction of the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system.
It is planned that by mid-2025, ETA authorization will become a mandatory requirement for all visitors who currently do not need a visa for short-term stays of up to 6 months in the UK.
It is important to note that foreign nationals traveling to the Channel Islands via the UK (i.e. a flight to Gatwick with a connection to Guernsey) will need to apply for an ETA permit, as per the UK's established visa requirements.
