Colombia cancels mandatory registration for visitor visa holders
The Colombian government has announced that certain Visitor visa (Visitor visa) holders no longer need to register with local authorities or apply for a local identity card.
The government regulation applies to Visitor visa holders falling under the categories of Business, Crew, Diplomatic, Events, International Agreements and Tourism.
Previously, foreign nationals were required to register in person and apply for a local identity card within 15 days of arrival or for approval of a visitor visa with a validity of more than three months.
Thus, foreign nationals traveling for more than 3 months on a visitor visa will no longer need to obtain registration, which will significantly save time and reduce migration formalities for this category of travelers.
