Visa for Bhutan
The Kingdom of Bhutan has been isolated for centuries, and even today is only open to a limited number of tourists. The government of the country pays great attention to preserving the ecosystem of the kingdom and the national culture of the Bhutanese people, so it limits the number of incoming tourists.
A visa to Bhutan can be obtained only for organized groups of tourists who travel according to programs developed by tour operators accredited by the Bhutan Tourism Department, as well as persons arriving in Bhutan at the invitation of government organizations. Individual tourists cannot obtain a visa. One cannot deviate from the itineraries provided by the guide.
The main obstacle for foreign tourists is a financial barrier - every traveler, except for Indian citizens, must pay a daily fee for each day of stay in the country. For this money, tourists receive accommodation in hotels (minimum 3 stars) with meals, guide services, a certain set of pre-agreed excursions and transportation. It is also necessary to pay the visa fee.
