Vietnam e-visa will be available through a new portal from November 11, 2024
Starting November 11, foreign tourists planning to travel to Vietnam will be able to apply for electronic visas (e-Visas) through a new web portal.
According to the immigration department of the Ministry of Public Security, the new official e-Visa portal will operate in parallel with the current website, which processes more than 15,000 applications daily.
According to a department spokesperson, the e-Visa application process will be more streamlined, and the new website will present users with an updated interface and easier navigation. The Frequently Asked Questions section will also become available in English and Vietnamese.
Immigration officials advise applicants to carefully check the completed form and make sure all data is entered correctly and completely before submitting to avoid applications being rejected.
The website will need to upload a passport photo and a copy of the passport data page. The system compares the uploaded photo with the passport photo, establishes a percentage match between the two images, and then extracts the data available in the passport to pre-fill the e-visa form.
Next, the portal prompts you to reconcile and fill in personal and travel information:
- Last name, first name, date of birth, gender, nationality;
- Passport data (number, date of issue and expiration);
- Professional data and information about the planned trip, including visa category and other information requested by the system.
As a reminder, since August 15, 2023, Vietnam has been issuing 90-day e-visas to foreign nationals, which allow them to enter the country through 42 border points. These include international airports in Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc and others, seaports, as well as land entry checkpoints on the borders with China, Laos and Cambodia.
