Vietnam's updated visa policy: visa-free entry for foreign tourists until 2028

Vietnam continues to actively develop its tourism infrastructure and simplify visa procedures to attract international tourists. In an important step, Vietnam has extended its unilateral visa-free entry policy for citizens of 12 countries from March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028.
According to the new decree, citizens of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland will be able to stay in the country without a visa for up to 45 days, regardless of the purpose of travel. The decision is not only aimed at boosting tourism, but also strengthening international relations by encouraging trade and cultural exchange.
In addition, Vietnam has recently introduced temporary visa-free travel for citizens of Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Poland. From March 1, 2025, these tourists will be able to visit the country without a visa until December 31, 2025 for up to 45 days for tourism purposes only.
This expansion of visa policy underscores Vietnam's ambition to become a leading tourist destination in Southeast Asia and will create new opportunities for international cooperation.
